Grants for Isle of Wight Museums or Archaeological Sites
Please note: Owing to the Corona Virus
Grants are now closed until 2023.
Terms and conditions
- VAT operates a non-discriminatory policy; any grants awarded will be given to organisations
who meet the funding criteria and the academic relevance/merit regarding their application. All grants are
awarded at the discretion of the trustees.
- Grants up to a maximum value of £2000.00 can be awarded as and when the Trusts funds permit, to support
Isle of Wight museums or archaeological sites with the cost of one-off or ongoing projects relating to the presentation,
conservation or study of the Islands history.
- Applicants can be the owner or director of a museum or archaeological site, an organisation that supports the work
of a museum or archaeological site, or an individual acting on behalf of a museum or archaeological site.
- Successful applicants will be awarded a grant prior to the proposed expenditure and will be required to submit
receipts for goods or work carried out as part of the project. It is expected that grants will normally be spent within
a year of their award. Any grant monies remaining at the end of the project should be returned to
Vectis Archaeological Trust.
- Applicants must apply to the Honorary Secretary, using the application form below.
- Successful applicants will be expected to submit a short illustrated report on the use of the grant, suitable for
publication on the Trust's website or an agreed alternative such as a talk at one of the Trust's meetings. An acknowledgement
of the financial contribution from VAT should also be publicly displayed as appropriate.
- Applications will be considered by the board of Trustees at the next Trustees meeting that takes place after receipt of
an application. Candidates will be notified of the Trustee's decision as soon as possible after that meeting. The Trustees
decision is final.
